How does it work?

Our measure would tax real estate that sells for more than $5 million in LA City.

  • The mansion tax would generate funding to reduce homelessness and protect low-income seniors, creating a one-time tax for millionaires, billionaires, and corporations that only kicks in when they sell properties in LA for more than $5 million.
  • It would immediately provide housing for people living on the streets, send emergency assistance to low-income seniors in danger of becoming homeless, and provide legal aid to renters.
  • The measure would be implemented with the strongest oversight in LA’s history.
